Operation Skinny Jeans: Week 2

A few people have mentioned that they would be interested in seeing some of my healthy recipes. I thought I would share one a week with some fitness tips. Not that I am qualified to give any sort of advice, but getting in shape is a more information the better kind of thing.

These Chili Lime Chicken Burgers are quick and easy, perfect for a weeknight meal or a weekend grill out with friends. Full of flavor, you don’t even notice how good they are for you!

Not a good picture of the actual burger itself, but look at the CHEESE!

Chili Lime Chicken Burgers

You need:
1 lb ground chicken (I always use breast instead of thigh, less calories!)
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
2 tsp minced garlic
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
¼ tsp chili powder 1 lime 4 sandwich thins (I like Rudi’s Sandwich Flatz)
(optional) 4 slices of low calorie cheese (I use provolone usually)

Take those things and then:
Combine ground chicken, red bell pepper, garlic, red pepper flakes, and chili powder. Add the juice from one lime into the mixture. Form four equal sized burgers. Grill for 3-4 minutes a side. Place slice of cheese on burgers while still warm, allowing the cheese to melt slightly. Serve on a sandwich thin.

Serves 4
Calories: 240, without cheese 310, with cheese

Now let’s chat about going to the gym. It can get quite boring while you’re chugging away on a machine and you never know what kind of nonsense they’re going to show on the gym TVs (usually CNN and soap operas at my gym). So, you need to be prepared to take control of your own entertainment. I like to make different playlists on Rhapsody so that I can have a few different options based on my mood. I shared my 90’s Workout Playlist with you a few weeks ago. I have a new one full of absolutely ridiculous songs that make you want to get up and shake that booty.

Pitbull ft. T-Pain & Sean Paul – Shake SeƱora
Macklemore x Ryan Lewis – Can’t Hold Us
will.i.am & Britney Spears – Scream & Shout
AWOLNATION – Kill Your Heroes
 Sleigh Bells – Kids
Savage ft. Souja Boy Tell’Em – Swing
Dizzee Rascal – Fix Up Look Sharp
Icona Pop ft. Charli XCX – I Love It
Kid Cudi ft. MGMT, Ratatat – Pursuit of Happiness (Steve Aoki Remix)
Jay-Z – La La La
Chiddy Bang - Opposite of Adults
Far East Movement ft. Stereotypes – Girls on the Dancefloor.

So there you have it! What's inspiring you to get in shape and healthy? Are you on team #operationskinnyjeans?

Making those burgers! Looks like I'll be needing a "light" dinner after this AM's breakfast disaster.

Oh yummmm. That looks delish. I'm a similar mission to operation skinny jeans. Well, same mission, different methods. I've gone kind of vegetarian and it's weird, but I think I love it.

I need to check out that music. I seriously need some help in the workout music department.
