Portlandia - Day 3

Title: Portlandia - Bunhead Edition
Episode: Day Three - We Didn't Die Underground
Cast: Jestina Shanghai, Shannon Giant, Dinoconspirers

Day three. The big day. The day of the Shanghai Tunnel Tour.

We started the day off at the Portland Saturday Market (even though it was Sunday and that's confusing) and I saw a man and a woman singing folk songs, while the woman held some sort of strange cat in her arms. It was amazing. Then we then hit up the BrunchBox food truck for some lunch.

And then liquid courage at the Bridgeport Brewery.

And more liquid courage at Hobo's before the tour.

The bartender then went on to freak the crap out of us telling all sorts of ghost stories. Then we started the tour.

Scardypants in the red light.

Orb or dust speck? We will never know.

But, we made it out alive. And really, not all that scared. Horray for us. We headed back out into Chinatown.

Then we stumbled upon the Church of Elvis on our way out of Chinatown.
Those are Barbies riding exercise bikes in the far right picture.

It was very, very strange.

Then. THEN. There was the Clyde Common. AKA Best Food Ever.

Sour cream, onion, and parmsesan popcorn | Steak with heirloom tomatoes atop buffalo mozzarella and ciabatta

Lessons Learned on Day Three:
I am not as scared of being underground as I thought I was.
Portland has an effed up history.
I like sassy gay bartenders.
I was more scared of the spiderwebs Jestina kept shining her flashlight on than of ghosts.
I can no longer fit in my jeans.

I'll be honest...those pictures look pretty freaky. Also, a couple of them kind of look like they were taken in my basement. Maybe I should have basement tours and charge admission?

ANYWAY, the food you two ate continues to make my stomach growl.

I think the food is usually the highlight of most of our vacations, it's so awesome to go and experience different foods in a new place. We also do lots of walking to counteract the high calorie intake, usually...

I've always wanted to go on a ghost tour somewhere. It looks like fun. And obviously your jeans not fitting is just a key sign of how much fun you had!

We went into it super scared, and then it wasn't scary at all. Kind of disappointing really, haha.

Jestina believes she was Abraham Lincoln in another life. I wonder who I was.
